Catch Up with the Sewing Industry

February 10, 2014 in News

There seems to be a lot of things blossoming in the sewing industry, and I wanted to share a few things that have caught my eye recently. Feel free to share fun things I may have missed in the comments!

1. New Book

Modkid Summer Fun by Patty Young

American Girl and other 18-inch dolls are all the rage right now, and Patty Young has put together a book full of fun projects to keep these dolls looking good. Order a signed copy today!

2. Sewing in the News

The National Figure Skating Championship has seamstresses and supplies on-hand in case of last minutes costume repairs. Read the NY Times article here.

3. New Fabric

Glitz by Michael Miller Fabrics

This fabric is to die for! I got a peak at it when I was Quilt Market in Houston, and I need all of it in my stash right now. The gold, pink and mint are just a really lovely combo. Check your local quilt shop to purchase the yardage, and of course, you can order it online as well.

4. Free Embroidery Design

Lots of Love by Urban Threads

Just in time for Valentine’s Day on Friday! This design would be cute on a tee, hankie. or even as a framed decoration. Download the free design here.

5. New Pattern

Fairytale Capelet and Hood Pattern by See Kate Sew

First, let’s talk about how cute the “models” are! With the purchase of the Fairytale Hood and Capelet Set you can make just a hood, just a capelet, or both with different variation and sizes available as well. It’s a PDF pattern available as an instant download after purchase. Purchase the adorable pattern here.
