Chiffon Evening Gown Hemming
When I was in college for fashion design, I worked at a small bridal shop and learned how to alter evening gowns. And, when I graduated, I started a little home business teaching sewing lessons and altering bridal/evening wear. Special events like homecoming, prom, and weddings can get really expensive! Before you even get to alterations, you're typically paying for the dress, proper undergarments to suit the dress, the jewelry, maybe hair and make up, the shoes, and perhaps even a clutch! I, myself, as a bridesmaid in a couple of weddings, have been very thankful that I possess the skill to hem or take in my own gown when necessary (saving me much $)! Well, if you're pretty comfortable with a sewing machine and serger, I bring you good news! We, at Baby Lock, made a video tutorial series on How to Hem a Chiffon Evening Gown (see below)! Keep on reading to learn about my full, extensive online hemming class that goes over other hemming methods, fabric, and how to hem long to short! How to Hem a Chiffon Evening Gown - Step 1: Marking
How to Hem a Chiffon Evening Gown - Step 2: Cutting
How to Hem a Chiffon Evening Gown - Step 3: Sewing and Serging
Want to learn even more? I have an entire online class at SewAtHomeClasses.com that teaches you 4 different evening gown hemming methods! And, we work with several different fabrics (chiffon, satin, taffeta, and a sheer stretchy knit), styles, and I'll even show you the best way to cut and sew a long gown to knee-length!
