Love My Scarf Blog Tour & Giveaway
September 3, 2013 in Giveaways
We’re so excited to be today’s stop on the Love My Scarf Blog Tour! Eileen Roche of Designs in Machine Embroidery is hosting this event to bring awareness to the thousands of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Love My Scarf is an initiative asking you to donate handmade or store-bought headscarves, and we are honored to have been asked to take part.
For our contribution to Love My Scarf, I used this easy tutorial from Nancy Zieman to create a cute and comfy turban. The turban tutorial is easy to follow, quick to sew, and Nancy gives great tips on how to maximize production to efficiently create multiple turbans.
Tips on Creating a Turban
1. Use a ballpoint needle.
If you don’t have a serger, then you’ll want to use a ballpoint needle in your sewing machine since you’ll be working with knits.
2. Make sure to use a stretch stitch.
Once again, if you are using a sewing machine to make your turban, then you’ll need to use a stretch stitch.
3. Get creative!
Instead of using one fabric for the entire turban, use a complimentary fabric for the tab in the front. This adds a a nice little flair!
