Delia Randall Creates, Grows and Shares Through Blogging
What started as a sideline hobby for blogger Delia Randall has turned into a calling, an outlet that has empowered the 32-year-old mother of two to stretch herself, form bonds and grow professionally. Delia’s blog, Delia Creates, has grown into a popular gathering place with more than half a million page view each month, where sewing and crafting enthusiasts who wish to try their hands at everything from children’s clothing to crochet to home accent pieces.
Delia enjoys the sponsorship of Michael’s Arts & Crafts, and has been a contributor to Jo-Ann Fabric’s Fall 2014 LookBook, Mollie Makes magazine, Babble and eHow. Now, Delia joins Totally Stitchin’ as a featured blogger, offering readers an eclectic mix of quick yet impressive sewing and craft projects. The easy-to-follow pieces offer a challenge to beginners, and often a refreshing change of pace for everyone else.
“I love to think outside the box,” she says. “I enjoy experimenting with materials and seeing if I can re-imagine old classics. Readers can expect my projects to be simple, useful and hopefully inspiring.”
Delia, who was raised in Arizona and now lives in Seattle, remembers a childhood of raiding her mother’s craft room for supplies. Although her mom is an avid quilter and crafter and Delia was always creative, it wasn’t until she was married with two children that she acquired the patience to tackle sewing herself. When she did, she found her inspiration in blogs.
“I was too far away from home to learn from my mom, so I turned to blogs to learn. One of the reasons I blog my creative projects is to give back the wonderful gift sewing and crafting has been in my life.”
Through Delia Creates, she skips happily from one medium to another, incorporating a wide range of projects into her large repertoire. It’s an admirable condition she dubs “crafting ADD.” “I think my loyal readers know to expect variety, and I hope Totally Stitchin’ readers love it as well.”
Delia’s eclectic sewing and crafting repertoire stems from an innate desire to shake up the status quo frequently—and sometimes dramatically. The common threads among these projects are simplicity and practicality.
Delia’s Katherine Baby Lock sewing machine gives her the flexibility she needs to tackle any creative pursuit. “It’s been a work horse for me, sewing clothes, blankets, baskets and leather projects.
“For me, working with Baby Lock is about partnering with an inspiring and exceptional partner in the sewing and creative world. Baby Lock embodies quality, integrity and heart.”
