Nancy’s Tip of the Week

July 7, 2011 in Tips & Tricks

I just received my Sewing with Nancy’s Tip of the Week email and I am so inspired. This week she highlights how quick and easy it is to make an oilcloth tablecloth. I have not worked with oilcloth before; to tell you the truth it scared me a little. I am so worried that after spending the money for the fabric I am just going to ruin it by putting pins through it. I can be a little OCD when it comes to pinning.

I think along with her short and sweet instructions and the great oilcloths for sale on her website, I am going to try it. What will it hurt; I am so tired of always having to wash my table cloth, with children ranging from 39 to 18months in the house I am ready for something that can handle the mess as well as my crafty style. I love that there is no hemming, just rotary cutting and adding trim.

Have you worked with oilcloth before? If so, do you have any advice for this oilcloth newbie? I would love to hear your successes as well as your pitfalls.
