Seams Unlikely Book Review
February 6, 2014 in News
We’re honored to be part of the Seams Unlikely blog tour hosted by Nancy Zieman! Seams Unlikely is Nancy’s autobiography, and it is an intriguing insight into the sewing superstar. From 4-H and working at Minnesota Fabrics to Nancy’s Notions and Sewing with Nancy, Nancy worked hard at her passion for sewing to get to where she is today.
Anytime you see a celebrity on TV or encounter them in real, there always seems to be something elusive about them that leaves many wanting to know more. I was fortunate to meet Nancy this past fall at Quilt Market in Houston, and I’m not going to lie, I was kind of starstruck! Of course, Nancy was very nice, but I instantly wanted to know more about her…her background, how she became an expert in the sewing industry, etc.
After reading Seams Unlikely, I feel like that need to learn more was completely satisfied. Nancy’s autobiography covers everything from her struggle with health issues, including knee problems and Bell’s Palsy, to the beginning of Nancy’s Notions and Sewing with Nancy. It truly is a story of a woman who knew where her passion lies and worked hard to achieve success. But, the refreshing thing about Nancy’s story is that there isn’t an ounce of greed or excess. You can genuinely tell that Nancy just wanted to do what she loved and wanted to share that with others.
Seams Unlikely shows that passion, dedication, trust, and hard work really do pay off. We are lucky to have Nancy as part of the sewing industry!
