Sewing in September

September 6, 2012 in News

There is a ton going on this month in the sewing blogosphere. Here’s what’s happening:

1. It’s National Sewing Month!

In 1982, President Ronald Reagan declared September “National Sewing Month” to recognize “the importance of home sewing to our nation.” Since its beginning, National Sewing Month has been a time to indulge your love of the craft, whether beginner or expert.

To learn more visit the National Sewing Month website or Facebook page, or¬†follow along with ¬†The Sewing Loft’s National Sewing Month Series. The series includes projects, favorite sewing tools, and lots of giveaways!

2. Travel Handmade with Sewing Summit

Sewing Summit is about a month away, so it’s time to get your bags (and pouches, e-reader sleeves, make-up brush rolls, etc.) ready! Travel Handmade is a two-week series, featuring all types of bags, from large duffles down to luggage tags, that will help you travel in style. Even if you aren’t headed to Sewing Summit, these projects are still super fun!

Join the Flickr group, follow the pin board, check out the daily blog posts, and get sewing!

3. Stash Guide Holder

Remember the Stash Guide Printable I shared a couple weeks back? Well, I stumbled across a blog post from Sew Many Ways that fits in PERFECTLY with the Stash Guide Cards. Karen (the lovely lady behind Sew Many Ways) found an 18 pocket business card organizer at Dollar Tree that is cute, compact and inexpensive. Fill this handy little gadget with your Stash Guide Cards and have an easy-to-use, organized fabric stash!

September is a big month, so take advantage of all that is going on in the sewing world. I know I will!
