I had the opportunity to work on the Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold, a sewing and embroidery machine, today! I will try not to use too many exclamation marks in this post, but, it was really exciting to play…I mean work…with this machine! Awesome would be an understatement!! It blows me away what these computerized sewing machines, especially the Ellisimo Gold, have the capability to do! Besides the automatic needle threader, the automatic reverse and cut options, the automatic buttonhole, and the ability to add personal pictures to this machine, the Ellisimo Gold allows you to use a large, beautiful, color touch screen. It also has a place where you can plug a mouse in to the machine and use with the screen. It has a place where you can plug a flash drive in to transfer embroidery designs from your computer to your machine. It has this really awesome pivot function where it lifts the foot with the needle down when you stop to pivot! So cool! It has a video camera view from above the needle!!!!!!! This helps to see an angle we don’t typically get to see when sewing! It helps a lot with alignment. It has a sensor that detects when there is a change in fabric thickness when sewing and adjusts the tension accordingly. There is a neat feature that keeps your sewing alignment straight, which would be really advantageous for using decorative stitches. And, believe it or not, it has a tablet pad where you can draw simple drawings onto the screen and the machine with digitize and stitch the simple design out. So, you could do like your kids’ or grandkids’ drawings and make a quilt out of it. I could go on and on! It’s incredible what technology has contributed to sewing and embroidery! Do you agree?
