Hi, I’m new to this web site, I love quilting. I have been quilting for about 8 years, my favorite are baby quilts, I love to applique. I was just reading where someone asked if we like our fabric cut or ripped at the fabric store. ”Does your quilt shop cut or rip your fabric & which do you prefer & why?” -I prefer my cotton quilting fabrics to be ripped rather than cut. Not only can you identify how true the grain line is, you end up with the amount you really needed and not lose inches trying to true the grain line. Which do you prefer?

Here is a good question to ask newbie quilters; How do you first lay out your fabric to cut it out for your quilt blocks- -do you line up your selvage edges first? or – line up the fold & square up according to the folded edge? Does your quilt shop cut or rip your fabric & which do you prefer & why?
